Jersey Boys redux...and still brilliant!

Was still flu-ey on Sunday but heaps better than Sunday; my nose was blocked for most of the day but it beats having a runny nose! Drove Aeris' car to the airport; only the second time I've done so since she got the car last year! The first time was the day before on Saturday when I drove back home from swimming! It's only taken me a whole year before I've driven Aeris' car!

The reason I drove her Honda Civic VTi-L was because we would have a full carload of passengers: Dad, Mum and Aunt Angela were arriving from Singapore with quite a lot of luggage and we didn't want to squeeze either Dad or myself in the backseat with Aeris driving. So I drove instead; it took me quite a while to get used to the length and width of Aeris' car and also the turning radius. But it was such a good car to drive and I felt comfortable driving it.

Mum and Dad cleared immigration and customs fairly quickly because they had nothing to declare. Aunt Angela took significantly longer and it was a good 1.5 hours AFTER their plane had landed before she left customs. Our original plan was for us to rush back home in time for 11am mass at St Scholastica's, as my parents weren't able to go to mass yesterday night, but we couldn't make it in time for the mass.

We somehow managed to squeeze all the luggage in the car. Most of it we managed to squeeze in the boot, but we still needed to put one big suitcase across the laps of Mum, Aunt Angela and Aeris in the backseat and Dad had to put a smaller carry-on suitcase on his lap in the passenger seat. But quite a bit of luggage they carried were things and gifts that were going to be given to us and other people, so they'll have much less things to carry when we send them off two weeks later.

After a quick afternoon nap, we all headed out to Melbourne city in the late afternoon to have an early dinner at Shanghai Village. Went shopping for nougats and other snacks for my parents and aunt to bring back to Singapore and then we went to the Princess Theatre to watch the Jersey Boys musical at 6pm.

Aeris and I had watched Jersey Boys before and we enjoyed it immensely. We knew Jersey Boys would still be showing when my parents got here, so we asked if they wanted to watch it, given that this was about the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, which was my parents' music era. And of course they wanted to watch it!

Could see that they thoroughly enjoyed watching Jersey Boys, especially Dad. I think it was a trip down memory lane for him and Auntie Angela, because so many of the songs in the musical were those which he listened to and was familiar with back in the 60s. Well worth it to watch Jersey Boys again! And I certainly enjoyed it more the second time around because there was no crazy lady distracting us with her elaborate hand gestures and dancing during the musical!

After the musical, we drove down to Lygon Street to have gelati. We were very lucky that it didn't take us too long to find a parking spot because even though it was nearly 9pm, there were almost no parking spots available and heaps of cars circling around like vultures, trying to find an elusive parking spot!

It was very VERY crowded at Casa del Gelato; the store was absolutely packed it we must have waited at least a good 15 to 20 minutes before it was finally our turn to be served! But on such a hot night (the temperature was still 30 degrees at midnight) it was well worth the wait for nice cool yummy gelati. Came back home after our gelati treats and all of us had an early night.
